Role Details

This role Is part of the global communications team supporting our European business in both government relations and Internal and external communications supporting the global growth strategy and reporting to the Chief People & Communications Officer.

Your Key Accountabilities

•    Government Relations.
•    Provide overarching strategic and policy leadership in the field of government relations.
•    Monitor and respond to emerging issues in the political environment and arising out of industry bodies. 
•    Design and sustain a comprehensive and pro-active government affairs strategy.  Monitor evolving public policy and ensure Accolade Wines engages in a manner that achieves corporate objectives.
•    Assist with responding to inquiries from or initiating contact with government and industry audiences in order to manage relationships, clarify Company positions and build goodwill.  Leverage the Company’s communications channels (Corporate PR & Communications) to accomplish business objectives.

•    Communications
•    Lead and manage and deliver core components of the corporate media relations strategy including the delivery of proactive, strategic news for the European business and Accolade Wines to support promotion of Corporate and employer brand.
•    Work with the Corporate Communications team on development and pitching of strategic announcements for the Europe business.
•    Handle incoming media queries including developing responses, obtaining internal approvals, and liaising with external and PR agencies when necessary.
•    Relationship build and be the on-going liaison with the brands and other internal teams to drive corporate storytelling, proactively identifying opportunities and leading delivery of activity including press release development.
•    Have oversight of systems that monitor and track group media relations activity including media monitoring, media relations calendar, ensuring other team members are kept abreast of key activity (internal, social etc).
•    Be responsible for the development of integrated digital communications plan including developing content for owned channels.

•    Sustainability
•    Lead the development and implementation of Accolade Europe’ sustainability strategy, with close collaboration with the insights, marketing, and supply chain teams.
•    Pull together the various sustainability initiatives in the business into a holistic strategy that is easy to communicate internally and externally.
•    Drive the communications agenda on Sustainability, leveraging our Carbon Neutral status.
•    Work with key media titles, prepare materials for customers and attend/speak at key conferences.
•    Keep abreast of government initiatives in the area of sustainability and build relationships with key government stakeholders.
•    Be the subject matter expert in sustainability to lead the business in this important area. 
 

Other Accountabilities Include

•    Stakeholder Management
•    Develop and maintain positive relations with key contacts in politics, the bureaucracy, and other influential networks
•    Assist and support the CEO/Managing Director Europe and Chief People Officer in building company and personal relationships with key contacts in government
•    Manage relationships with Journalists and media outlets  
 

Your Knowledge and Skills

•    Experience in government/communications environment
•    Board understanding of the political and social environment
•    Well rounded experience in a government relations/communications manager role
•    Ability to fully comprehend and deliver solutions for complex and technical matters including policy matters relating to taxation
•    Proven experience and understanding of effective public policy and political advocacy and public affairs programs
•    Knowledge and experience in EU/UK governmental and public policy affairs 
•    Experience in business communications and the development and promotion of strong and positive corporate and employer brand
•    Experience in identifying, planning, and managing all communication deliverables required for the region and incorporating those communication strategies into the overall strategic plan supporting major milestones and deliverables

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in politics, communications, or a related discipline.  In addition, you will have demonstrated success in a government relations/communications role
