Role Details

The Vineyard Supervisor provides support in the day-to-day operation of the Company vineyards in the Pipers River region, through the supervision of contractors and by carrying out viticultural tasks as directed.

Throughout the harvest period, the Vineyard Supervisor assists the Viticulture Manager with vintage planning, logistics and coordination of vintage operations.

This is a ‘hands-on’ role which includes supervision of contractors and their employees, frost control,  irrigation application and scheduling, pest and disease monitoring, yield estimation and tractor and machinery operation.

Your Key Accountabilities

•    Assist the Viticulture Manager to implement the vineyard management plan to achieve specified wine grades and production levels for all patches.
•    Ensure that all viticultural operations are carried out efficiently, safely and in accordance with good viticultural practice and company policy
•    Train vineyard contractors’ employees in aspects of vineyard procedures
•    Maintain appropriate records and process paperwork so that suppliers are paid accurately and on time
•    Collect and maintain data related to the vineyard in a timely manner
•    Ensure vineyard assets are properly controlled, protected and maintained.
•    As required monitor vine health and crop condition across each vineyard, report to the Viticulture Manager all issues or concerns.
•    Assist the Viticulture Manager in the scheduling of irrigation and the maintenance of the irrigation infrastructure
•    Respond to frost events on the property and be available after hours as required to implement the frost management plan
•    Assist with vintage planning and harvest logistics
•    Keep the Viticulture Manager informed of all matters concerning the vineyard

Other Accountabilities Include

•    Work with management, SEQ teams and employees and contractors to ensure safe systems of work are developed, documented and followed
•    Participate in training programs as required
•    Carry out any other tasks or responsibilities that may be requested by the Viticulture Manager – Cool Climate and Vineyard Manager / Viticulturist – Cool Climate.

Essential Qualifications

•    Certificate III in Viticulture or a related discipline
•    ChemCert Accreditation 

Physical and Other Requirements

A valid driver’s licence is essential
A forklift licence is required
This role involves:
