Role Details

The Senior Commercial Analyst is responsible for partnering with and providing ongoing financial support to the Accounts group for a designated channel (e.g. Coles, Endeavour, On Premise or Independents), assisting the profit centre management team in achieving profitability outcomes by providing commercial insights and context to all key decisions.  

As a Senior Commercial Analyst, you will also provide ongoing financial support to all regional business unit activity including trading terms review, promotional profitability, business plans and new business opportunities and ensure business unit management is across respective Commercial Finance inputs.  

Your Key Accountabilities

• Analyse monthly operating results for business units to ensure that the management team completely understand the result’s and identify trends that will impact future forecasts  
• Challenge and validation of SO&P sales demand volume and weekly sales calls 
• Develop and review rates for Net Sales, GP and overhead rates for financial forecasts  
• Analysis and commentary on forecasts and assist with the development of BU R&O’s  
• Monthly review of promotional investment rates and frequency  
• Prepare packs for monthly Business Performance Review (BPR) sessions, providing insight and analysis where applicable  
• Gatekeeper of the trade promotions management system / process; ensure input into promotions management is up to date, with promotional investment adhered to, working closely with Commercial Manager, Trade Promotions Manager and Revenue Management team  
• Market Data analysis and insight (Nielsen and Aztec), use analysis to influence forecasting  
• Drive pre and post event promotional ROI evaluation and process enhancement (scenario modelling), ensure learning is built into future promotional planning  
• Work closely with Commercial Managers along with respective sales teams to optimise suite of sales reports, and be an advocate for consistent use of information   
• Financial support for the development of National Account trading term platforms and business plans.  

What you’ll bring

• ​University qualifications within Accounting/ Commerce 
• Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), CIMA or CA  
• 5+ years demonstrated experience in providing both financial and commercial analysis 
• Ability to business partner, communicate effectively and manage multiple stakeholder expectations 
• Work collaboratively in a team environment as well as autonomously 
• Great attention to detail and initiative 
• Advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
