About the role

Reporting to the Head of Category ANZP, this role will manage the full category function whilst managing a large category portfolio, this will also include the management of a Category Analyst as a direct report.  

The main objective of the role is to create and implement the category and channel strategy to achieve growth and revenue targets. This role will formulate the strategy by utilising shopper, consumer and market insights from multiple platforms and information sources. 

As a Category Strategy Manager, you will be a fast-paced and confident leader with best in class customer service, committed to the delivery of innovative category and shopper solutions across the Wine categories within the wider Liquor and Beverage segments.

You will be part of a successful category team, working alongside energetic colleagues with a can-do attitude that played a pivotal role in achieving the ‘supplier of the year’ award for Accolade Wines. This role is based in our new Sydney CBD office, and has the flexibility to work from home. 

This role is full-time and permanent.

Key responsibilities include:

•    Category & Shopper Led Strategic Thinking: Lead the category vision and strategy agenda within the liquor market, from portfolio innovation through to range reviews. Highly experienced to lead shopper and category understanding to create direction that drives our product, price, place, and promotional strategies with our key customers.
•    Channel Leader: Align category and shopper insights to underpin our on-premises, off-premises and ecommerce sales strategy and shape our category vision. You will possess an understanding of the complexity of the retailer landscape and diverse channels with a high level of influence and presentation skills.
•    One Team: Foster a supportive team culture, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, underpinned by strong communication. 
•    Influence: Customer facing and collaborative skillset, with the confidence working directly with senior business leaders to influence both the immediate and long-term strategies.
•    Leadership of Sales Strategies: Lead the channel thinking of the commercial team, taking responsibility for developing and implementing channel strategies with a horizon of 12-36 months, be able to develop product, price, promotional price, and placement strategies.
•    Insights into Action: Work closely with internal and external insights teams to provide actionable and storytelling presentations that will deliver a positive commercial outcome. Implement and drive a process for proactive identification and prioritisation of customer and profit opportunities within our Retailer partners.
•    Business Panning & Monitoring: Lead the annual planning process with key customer teams.

What you’ll bring:

•    5-8+ years Commercial & FMCG category role and proven track record of business delivery
•    Expert in Category Management within FMCG or Liquor Market
•    Knowledge of Australian liquor market
•    Polished and engaging presentation and selling skills – need to be able to influence senior stakeholders as well as peers.
•    Ability to build relationships at all levels.
•    Strong end to end commercial FMCG experience, including Insights and Planning.
•    Deep personal accountability for great performance.
