In this role
  • Work with the Senior Winemaker/Manager in the production and management of the Tintara, Leasingham and Chateau Reynella wine portfolios. Working closely to ensure wine quality standards and customer demands are met
  • Work with the Senior Winemaker/Manager in the management of the efficient and effective performance of all activities at the Tintara site, including ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key accountabilities include
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of all Cellar & Laboratory activities on a daily basis – including the distribution of Cellar notes and data entry.
  • Assist with intake planning, staff training and site preparation pre vintage
  • Ensure the relevant analysis of juice/wine on site is performed as required to ensure compliance with wine specifications.
  • Be very involved in the daily ferment tastings during vintage and the subsequent delivery of work orders.
  • Responsible for tasting and blending decisions on red & white wines in conjunction with senior winemaking team.
  • Monitor the status of all product blends produced on site, ensuring all bulk wine, packaging and bottling requirements are met.
  • Responsible for bulk wine and raw material inventories, including year-end and end of Vintage stock takes.
  • Timely, accurate and clearly expressed reporting on site operations.
  • External PR/Brand ambassador responsibilities
  • Ensure effective and productive site industrial and employee relations, and the ongoing development of people, at the Tintara site.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external contractors.
  • Engender an efficient, effective and best practice/continuous improvement approach to all production activities, including co-ordinating of NPD, trials and R&D projects for the responsible departments.
  • Responsible (day to day) for ensuring ongoing certification of all Risk Management Systems, including HACCP, ISO9000, ISO14000, AS4801, and engendering a culture of continuous improvement in the performance and outcomes of all these programmes, for the Tintara site.

Required experience is
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Assistant or Winemaking role
  • Previous experience working with fruit from McLaren Vale, Clare, Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra and/or the Northern Hemisphere will be highly regarded
Essential qualifications are

Tertiary qualifications in Oenology, winemaking or related science
