Role Details

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Routine analysis of wine / juice samples and reporting of results
• Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Preparation of laboratory reagents

Your Key Accountabilities

• Conduct routine analysis of wine and juice samples in accordance with Laboratory procedures. Routine analysis includes sulphur dioxide measurement, acidity (pH And Total Acidity), wine/ grapescan analysis using FTIR, alcohol measurement, enzymatic analysis using a microplate reader, turbidity measurement. Vintage analysis also includes micro-organism counts using a fluorescence microscope, grape maturity sampling, and ferment sugar monitoring.
• Conduct routine trials for Winemakers.
• Data entry.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Prepare and standardize laboratory solutions.
• General laboratory housekeeping.

Other Accountabilities Include

• Any other projects that may be reasonably requested by the Laboratory Supervisor or winemakers.
• Other winery activities as required including minor cellar work as required.
• Participate in a 24-hour, 7-day roster during the vintage period.
• Comply with all SHEQ policies and procedures

Your Knowledge and Skills

• Year 12 Chemistry
• Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
• Intermediate computer skills

Essential Qualifications

• Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable
• A minimum of two years work experience in a laboratory environment
• Team focus, strong attention to detail and ability to mentor vintage casual when required
