Role Details
Your main duties will be assisting in the management of all winemaking operations on site, within the guidance and parameters set by winemakers and Group Winemaking.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Monitor the vintage winemaking program in conjunction with other Winemakers
- Assist the Winemakers in preparing the winery work program, and liaise with the Cellar Supervisor to implement the winery work program
- Create, coordinate and update work notes
- Drive exceptional levels of winery hygiene and general housekeeping
- Work with a ‘hands on approach’ to all tasks
- Oversee grape intake and processing according to supplied schedule
- Conduct press cuts and juice assessments
- Undertake winemaking trials as required
- Assist in maintenance of bulk stock records, including stock takes with administration and cellar supervisor.
- Program and monitor barrel maintenance program and play a key role in barrel store house keeping
- Ensure the relevant analysis and amelioration of juice/wine on site is performed as required to ensure compliance with wine specifications.
- Actively participate daily with input and discussion in tastings, blending, trials and vintage ferment tasting, and subsequent delivery of work orders
- Carry out cellar work as required, following all work instructions and safety procedures
- In the absence of the Cellar Supervisor, maintain supplies and storage condition of winery materials as requested and required

Essential Qualifications
- Experience in an Assistant or Winemaking role
- Exposure to premium wine production (desirable)
- Wine tasting experience, stewarding/ wine show judging or wine show committee representation (desirable)
Physical and Other Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in winemaking or a related science
- High Risk Work licence for Forklift Truck (highly desirable but not essential)
