Our Katnook Estate winery is an award-winning winery in Coonawarra. Rich in heritage and history, Katnook Estate is one of the oldest existing wineries in the region and its vineyards stretch over 155 hectares on the famous terra rossa soil strip that runs through Coonawarra.

Role Details

You will be reporting to the Senior Winemaker/Manager and you will have no direct reports.

Your Key Accountabilities

In this role

Your main duties will be to undertake general winery operations within the cellar for the Vintage period as instructed by the winemakers.

Key accountabilities include

•    Undertake vintage cellar operations, including grape receival, crushing, fermentation activities, barrel work and juice or wine transfers
•    Record data on log sheets or cellar notes
•    Maintain general winery cleanliness and hygiene
•    Follow direction as provided by winemakers and others
•    Ensure that cellar operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner; adhering to company policies and procedures at all time
•    Wear personal protective equipment as required
•    Participate in training as required

Required experience is

•    Vintage or winery operations experience (desirable, but on-the-job training will be provided for the right applicants)

Essential Qualifications

•    High Risk Work licence for forklift truck (highly desirable but not essential)
•    Winemaking experience or studying winemaking (highly desirable but not essential)

Physical and Other Requirements

This job requires that you are:
•    Physically fit to undertake manual tasks
•    Flexible and able to work shift work, weekend work and overtime as required
•    Reliable and punctual
•    Able to work under pressure

This role involves:
•    Working outdoors
•    Working with hazardous substances
•    Working up to 12 hours per day, six days per week during the peak vintage period
