About the Role

The Assistant Winemaker works with a hands-on approach as part of the team creating Katnook Estate wines as well as other wines in Accolade Wines' premium portfolio.
Working with guidance from the Senior Winemaker and Winemaker on site plus Group Winemakers, and within established parameters, the Assistant Winemaker contributes to the management of all winemaking operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor the winemaking program and laboratory schedule in conjunction with the Winemakers and Laboratory Manager
  • Drive exceptional levels of winery hygiene and general housekeeping
  • Ensure the relevant analysis and amelioration of juice/wine on site is performed as required to ensure compliance with wine specifications
  • Carry out cellar work and laboratory as required, following all work instructions and safety procedures
  • Undertake winemaking trials as required
  • Report on site operations in a timely, accurate and clear manner
  • Oversee grape intake and processing according to supplied schedule
  • Conduct press cuts and juice assessments
  • Participate in the daily ferment tastings during vintage and the subsequent delivery of work orders
  • Maintain supplies and storage condition of winery materials as requested and required

About You

You have a degree in winemaking and a passion for all things wine! You've been exposed to premium cool climate winemaking (or can demonstrate a passion), and have completed at least two vintages working in a premium winemaking facility. Ideally, you have some experience working as an Assistant Winemaker or Winemaker.
From this experience you can demonstrate that you are enthusiastic, reliable and energetic; with strong communication skills and a desire to learn and grow your career.
You hold (or are willing to obtain) a high risk work licence to operate a forklift.
