Role Details

You will be responsible for developing reliability plans and schedules for our Berri Manufacturing facility assets based on recurring preventive maintenance activities, predictive maintenance data and KPIs. This includes statutory compliance maintenance and registrations as well as the development and continual improvement of asset management plans for all packaging maintainable assets.  Lead and organise the preventative programme with the use of Mainpac.

To continuously challenge, innovate and improve the department performance through the implementation of a Lean culture and operational philosophy.

Your Key Accountabilities

 

  • Planning and Scheduling of all planned reliability team work, as well as any other ad hoc work to be performed in a defined scheduled period.
  • Facilitate the preparation of the rolling 12 month Packaging Maintenance Reliability Plan in conjunction with input from stakeholders.
  • Prioritising maintenance issues
  • Prepare and execute weekly work schedules to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Allocate tasks to the reliability team members.
  • Develop, implement and monitor key performance indicators for incident response such as timeliness of response, first fix, actual versus planned work.
  • Develop, implement and monitor key performance indicator measures for reliability such as planned versus actual work performance, repeat failures, etc.
  • Ensure personnel, plant and equipment safety, and environmental and quality requirements are met through the application of policies, procedures, systems and standards.
  • Ensure structured Root Cause Analysis is conducted and applied using standard tools and techniques.
  • Ensure timely and accurate collection of data through the utilisation of Information Management Systems such as Mainpac, SharePoint and shared drives.
  • Review and analyse site failures to determine areas of improvement and develop action plans aimed at eliminating the failure.
  • Review and analyse reliability work performed to determine negative trends and develop action plans to correct.
  • Provide coaching to reliability teams on best practice work management methods, standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to accurate strategic planning through the collection and analysis of the relevant documentation and data including PM’s, failure codes and work orders.
  • Ensure Mainpac data relating to Work Orders, BOMs PM’s and Job Plans, etc. is accurately captured and maintained.
  • Ensure all purchases for materials and contractors are processed and followed up with confirmed delivery dates identified.
  • Maintain accurate records to enable budget planning and management requirements to be realised.
  • Work directly with maintenance mechanics, production associates and management to problem-solve and correct maintenance related downtime ensuring maximum production efficiencies.
  • Check parts in/out of parts inventory matching to scheduled maintenance work order.
  • Develop PM / Calibration checklist and implement preventive and predictive maintenance systems for all production equipment.
  • Track the PM / Calibration completion and report to management on weekly, monthly basis, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Identify PM / Calibration, procedures from Mainpac and issue to mechanics. Coordinate predictive and preventive maintenance practices for all production equipment.
  • Perform systematic preventive maintenance / Calibration, including electrical or mechanical adjustments, inspections and minor repairs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records as required.
  • Complete all required shift/departmental maintenance records, to include checklists development.
  • Coordinate production equipment PM services with outside contractors/providers
  • Monitor routine services provided by contractors and oversee small projects and identify
  • potential equipment problems.
  • Manage parts use and inventory, utilizing inventory system, just-in-time, & budget guidelines
    Comply with all safety, security and Company policies and procedures. Read, understand, and comply with MSDS sheets.
  • Comply with Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), Safety Management System (SMS) and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) requirements.
  • Work in compliance with all OSHA standards and guidelines.

Other Accountabilities Include

  • To maintain effective communication throughout the department using a variety of mediums (team meetings, 1-1s, visual management, etc)
  • Facilitates and develops productive cross-functional working relationships within the business
  • To actively develop team working within the department
  • Define and monitor the labour plan
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are effective and recorded
  • Prepare clear, concise reports and submissions based on accurate process review statistics as required.

Outstanding leadership and Management Ability

Essential Qualifications

  • Reliability Planning/Scheduling experience
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role in FMCG
  • Technical knowledge

Physical and Other Requirements

Degree – Qualified in Engineering is beneficial
